PURGE

PURGE: to rid (someone or something) of an unwanted quality, condition, or feeling.  To cleanse or purify.

The past few weeks I’ve talked to so many individuals working to purge physical objects from their home, spending time cleaning out drawers filled with decades of collected items, pulling out entire closets full of old clothes in hopes to make space.  Ridding our physical space of unwanted or no longer needed items can feel rewarding.

What we collect over years in our living space can pile up and next thing you know, we have this overarching sense to tackle it and PURGE.

How often do we get that feeling to purge internally?  How often do we actually take the time to look inwards and complete the same actions on the inside?

Negative energy can make us feel sluggish, tired, or depressed. Over years and even decades, we internally store energy and thoughts that lower our energetic vibration and taking up space such as past trauma, feelings of guilt, fear, anger, resentment and jealousy.  This can manifest into feeling overwhelmed, smothered, and restless. It’s so easy for us to focus on purging material items yet we tend to continue piling more energetic items in our mind and in our hearts. This form of energic clutter can cause energy to stagnate and negative energy to accumulate in our life.

Taking time to rid energy, thoughts, and emotions that no longer serve us is a “cleaning house” aspect of transformation.  Cleansing frees up space in your being for positive energy, connections, and intentions for the life you want to live, how you truly want to feel, think, and be.

Here’s a few recommended activities to cleanse your inner being

·      Meditation: Meditation is a practice of mindfulness, or focusing the mind on a particular

object, thought, or activity to train attention and awareness, and achieve a mentally clear and

emotionally calm and stable state.

·      Practicing stillness, sitting in silence

·      Incorporating clean healthy foods/detox – eating cleaner such as more fruits and vegetables,

whole grains, nuts, seeds, and beans.

·      Take a warm bath – maybe even try adding Epsom salts or essential oils to the water

·      Use essential oils - Oils go deeper than smelling good – they access our energy body and

physical body often connecting them together in synergy and creating healing on various

levels. Oils help us connect and because healing happens at the base level, it bypasses the

brain immediately accessing our internal healing.  Apply to the feet, wrists, temples, or chakra

centers.

·      Spend time in nature

·      Cord cutting:  One of the best practices for releasing unhelpful attachments is a cord-cutting

ritual, a practice that severs the energetic ties that are keeping you connected and attached to

people and situations that are no longer serving your highest good. When a cord-cutting ritual

is successful, you regain control of your energy and are free to be more intentional about how

you direct it— and who you share it with.

·      Practice gratitude – when you are grateful for what you have, you will attract more positive

energy

·      Intentional movement such as dance, stretching, yoga, walking, qi gong, tai chi, belly breath

exercises

When you have a cleaner spirit, you may notice clutter beginning to fade away in the physical aspects of your life as well.  The benefits transfer to other parts of your life.  You may become more organized at work, mindful in your daily activities, focused, and find it easier to clean out your physical space.
